Excerpt & Tour: A Princess in Waiting by Noelle Adams

Title: A Princess in Waiting
Author: Noelle Adams
Genre/Age: Romantic Comedy/Adult
Series: Rothman Royals Series (Book Three)
Publisher: Self-published
SynopsisI was born the youngest princess of a tiny country in the Alps, but I've never been any good at being a princess. I'm shy and bookish, and I don't know how to flirt. The only man I'm comfortable around is my best friend, Alex. I used to have a crush on him, but I don't anymore.

I absolutely don't.

Right now, I'm interested in a handsome French millionaire, but I need Alex to help me learn how to be attractive to men. He agrees because he's my friend, but he doesn't seem happy about it.

And I need to remember that Alex is just giving me lessons. He isn't the man I'm trying to win.

“So, since you’re my friend, what do you suggest I do to move things along with Stefan.”

He stared at me blankly. “Move things along?”

“I don’t mean I want to jump into bed with him, but I’d like to know if he’s a possibility. What if he still doesn’t want to kiss me?”

“He will.”

“What if he doesn’t?”

“I just said he will.”

“But you said he did last time, and he didn’t even try.”

“Did you give him any encouragement?”

“What kind of encouragement?”

“You know.”

I gave an outraged huff. “I do not know! What do you think I’ve been telling you all this time? I’m completely clueless. I’ve never done this before. What kind of encouragement am I supposed to give a man to get him to kiss me?”

Alex straightened up, shifting slightly in his seat. “Just… just… I don’t know… gaze up at him soulfully.”

I snorted. “How am I supposed to do that? What does that even mean?”

He groaned, but then evidently decided to take on this particular task. He turned to face me more fully and reached out to take my shoulders, turning my body toward his. “Okay,” he said in a different tone. “Look at me. In the eyes.”

I gazed up at him without hesitation. I looked at him all the time. There was no one I’d rather look at than Alex.

Our eyes met, and he murmured, “Now stop looking like you want to dig into my brain for answers to your questions.”

I gasped at this comment, but he didn’t give me time to respond.

He continued, “I’m serious. Relax. Stop thinking. Just look at me.”

I tried to do what he said and was startled by the look in his eyes. He was gazing at me too, and for a moment I was trapped by the softness, the depth, the warmth of his expression.

My mind blurred over and my heart started to beat wildly. I could feel my pulse in my wrists, my head, my throat.

“That’s good,” Alex murmured huskily. “Really good. Just like that.”

My breathing was growing more shallow, and other parts of my body started to throb. He wasn’t even touching me, but it felt so much like he was.

Trying to make my mind work the way it was supposed to and engage in this conversation, I asked, “So what if he… if he still doesn’t kiss me.”

“Try touching him.”

“I don’t want to humiliate myself.”

“So make it a little casual touch. Nothing definite. Just touch his arm or his chest or something.”

Instinctively, I lifted my hand and pressed it lightly against Alex’s chest. He was wearing a dark blue crew neck shirt, and I could feel his hard, warm chest beneath the fabric.

I heard his breath hitch slightly. “Good.”

Willing myself to act normal, I managed to say, “What if he still doesn’t kiss me?”

“He will.”

“What if he doesn’t?”

“He will.”

“What if—”

He smothered a soft groan. “Then move your hand. Maybe touch his face. But just lightly.”

I raised my hand and used my fingertips to gently stroke along the line of his jaw. “Like this?” I whispered.

Alex seemed frozen, unmoving, as he sat stiffly and stared at me.

I loved the feel of his face so much that I stroked my finger back up to his cheekbone.

He let out a low groan and grabbed my face in both of his hands, pulling me toward him until he was kissing me hard.

I was born the oldest princess of a tiny country in the Alps, which means my future has been planned out for me since I was an infant. I was supposed to marry a rich, arrogant stranger to help restore the royal bank accounts, but I decided to go to college in the States instead. It was the one act of rebellion in my very sheltered life.

That's how I met Jack Watson. He lives next door, and he's the nicest, sexiest guy I've ever known. My time here is almost over, though. Soon I have to go back home and be the daughter my family and country expects. So there's no sense in letting Jack seduce me with his slow smile, his skillful hands, and his husky drawl.

Even if I was allowed to have him for a boyfriend, Jack hates formal occasions, pretentious people, and being the center of attention. He'd never hook up with a princess.

Which is why he can never know who I am.

I was born the middle princess of a tiny country in the Alps, which means my primary duty in life has always been to make a good marriage for my family and country. That's why I'm marrying Edward Channing. He's rich, handsome, arrogant, and silent.

Seriously, he almost never talks to me at all.

He might be marrying a princess, but he obviously doesn't want to spend any more time with me than he has to. I have no problem with that. We can live entirely different lives and pursue our own interests. I'm sure we can make this arranged marriage work.

Of course, we do need to produce an heir, but I'm trying not to think about that.

Noelle handwrote her first romance novel in a spiral-bound notebook when she was twelve, and she hasn’t stopped writing since. NOTE: Adult Content Ahead

My heart leaps into my throat, and I swipe to answer. “Hello?”
“Hi,” Mason says, his low voice reaching deep into my chest. “I hope it’s okay that I called.”
“Of course,” I say, my voice sounding kind of giddy and nervous. I pinch my eyes shut and take a deep, silent breath.
“I wanted to be with you for the big moment. Besides, it seemed better to wish you a Merry Christmas over the phone instead of texting.”
“Christmas isn’t until tomorrow,” I say, my voice thankfully not sounding like a little schoolgirl anymore. My smile is coming through though, not that I mind.
“Then Merry Christmas Eve.”
“Merry Christmas Eve to you, too.”
“So did I miss it?”
“Miss what?”
“Did you try it yet?”
“Oh!” I’ve been standing here motionless, knife in hand. I jolt into motion. “No, I’m cutting it now.”
“Good. Get ready for ecstasy.”
I manage not to moan, and not over the fudge. His voice already sounds so fucking sexy, but throw in the word ‘ecstasy’ and my mind goes to dirty places.
“I’m cutting it into sixteen pieces,” I say, as I finish the vertical cuts. “Is that how you do it?”
“Yeah. It’s pretty rich, so twelve comes out a little large.”
Yep. My mind is still thinking dirty things. But how can I help it after a comment like that? Not for the first time, I wonder if his man part is as oversized as the rest of him. Not that I would get access to it anyway. I’m just curious.
I start fumbling through the drawer for the tiny spatula, telling myself to pull it together. I’d like to have a conversation with him without being a little horn dog the whole time. It’s just that he sounds so good, it’s making me remember what it was like to exchange those heated glances with one another.
“Okay,” I say, tucking the phone against my ear with my elbow, lifting a little piece of fudge out of the pan, and grabbing it with my free hand. “I’m eating it now.”
Then I let out the most sinful moan I’ve ever made. Because when I put that little piece of heaven on my tongue, oh my god. “Mmmm.”
“Yeah?” He sounds a little breathless.
“Mmmm,” I moan again, letting the smooth caramel and chocolaty texture caress my tongue. “Holy lord.”
He exhales. “Uh... you’re welcome.”
I laugh, cheeks burning, licking my lips. “That was fucking amazing.”
“I’m glad you liked it,” he says, sounding slightly more normal. God, did we just have food sex? Is that a thing? Because if it’s not, it should be.

Review: Mine, Forever and Always by Tammy L. Bailey

Title: Mine, Forever and Always
Author: Tammy L. Bailey
Genre/Age: Historical Romance/Adult
Series: None
Publisher: Self-published
Format: ebook via Reading Alley
Rating: ✺✺✺
SynopsisJust shy of fifteen years old, and during a fake and impromptu wedding ceremony, Lily Scott married her best friend's brother, Henry Dalton.

It seemed harmless enough until he leaned in and whispered to her his true feelings, amorous words she has been unable to forget: Now you’re mine, forever and always.

Unfortunately, growing up pulls them apart and transforms Henry into a pompous scoundrel. When they meet again at a house party hosted by Henry’s sister, will Henry remember his once faithful promise to Lily?

**Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book.**

This book left me smiling!

Image result for can't stop smiling gif

Lily gave her heart away years ago when a play marriage ceremony to her friend's brother, Henry, left her longing for the day that she could say those vows for real. After Henry's departure and coldly distancing himself from her, she's given up on ever winning the affection of her childhood crush. Instead, she's well on her way to marrying another man, one who she knows she'll never be able to love.

Henry may pretend to be aloof where Lily is concerned but it's all an act. He isn't as indifferent to her presence as he'd like everyone, including her, to believe. In fact, she's the only woman who has been on his mind since he left home. Drowning himself in alcohol and women never did quite cure him of the heartbreak of living without her.

Their reunion isn't an easy one. Starting off with the mystery of a love letter penned by Lily, Henry is left trying to figure out which man among them has won her heart. And Henry's sister's party games up the ante by pairing our couple with other partners, causing jealous feelings to emerge. There are waterfalls, play theatrics, and accidents along the way. When the truth comes out, Henry and Lily must decide if their childhood nuptials should be repeated... for real this time.

This novella was a quick read. I think it took me all of like 3 hours to finish it, but I found myself either smiling or gushing the entire time. I loved that there was so much emotion packed into such a short read. I felt excited, heartbroken, anxious, and may have let out a few happy sighs from time to time.

I'm glad this was dual POV. It helped to see both sides of the story as our couple reunite and face haunting memories while making new ones to keep them awake at night. I was surprised to see some spice in the romance here, too. It's not overtly scandalous but more than I typically see in a novella where things are usually skimmed over.

There was also some behind the scenes scheming going on and I caught on to it about halfway through. Yet, there were still several twists that I wasn't expecting. Henry's run-in with his parents was a little "convenient" but I let that slide because what came after was romantic bliss and I couldn't put it down.

In closing...
I'm not sure if there are more stories to come with this group of characters but I very much want to see Jane find a match. I'd even be thrilled to have her hero turn out to be Waverley all along. Five suns!

Book Blitz: Sugar, We're Going Down by M.H. Soars

Title: Sugar, We're Going Down
Author: M.H. Soars
Genre/Age: Contemporary Romance/NA
Series: Love Me, I'm Famous Series (Book One)
Publisher: Infinite Sky Publishing

The long-awaited story of the incorrigible bad boy rockstar and the feisty woman who brought him down to his knees.

They say nothing compares to the first kiss. That sentence needs to be amended. Nothing compares to the first kiss from Oliver Best. I knew in the moment our lips touched that the cocky rockstar would be forever imprinted in my mind. I also knew that loving him would be my destruction. And yet, love him I did.

Oliver Best, former rockstar, heir to one of the largest fortunes in Great Britain, and the country’s most infamous bad boy.

Saylor Blue Carter, college drop-out, lead singer of a struggling band, not a penny to her name.

When they met, it was hate at first sight. Oliver was an arrogant ass. Saylor was a cold hearted bitch. These were the thoughts they had for each other. Until that kiss. That life altering, earth shattering, nuclear kiss. They knew what that kiss meant. They knew anything between them would be explosive and without hope for a happily ever after. So they vowed to forget, they tried to stay away. But now with their best friends’ wedding approaching, all bets are off.

*This is Part One of a 3-Part story.

I brace myself for the impact, but as soon as Oliver turns around and my gaze collides with his electric blue eyes, I know I’ll have to bring my A-game if I’m to survive being near him. I haven’t seen the man in six months, but just being under his scorching gaze is enough to make me relive our fiery kiss and crave for more. I’ve never felt this crazy fixation for anyone before. It’s like an ice cold fever that won’t quit, a yearning that makes by body tingle all over in anticipation.

Oliver’s gaze skates over my body deliberately slowly, and a satisfied grin is plastered on his smug face when he focuses on my eyes again.

“Hello, there,” he says.

“What are you doing here?” I snap and my rude reply earns me a frown from Sebastian. Shit, I really need to work on tempering my bitchiness when I’m nervous.

Oliver chuckles. “I see you’re still mad at me. I’m kind of honored.”

I cross my arms in front of my chest and bite my tongue to keep from saying anything else that will give away how much Oliver is affecting me.

Someone touches my arm and with a side glance I see it’s Liv. “Be nice, Blue. I can’t have my maid of honor bickering with the best man.”

My shoulders sag as I let out a heavy sigh. I’ve never been part of a wedding party before so I have no idea how much interaction there is between the maid of honor and the best man. I hope it’s minimal. Oliver keeps staring at me like he can read my mind. It’s unnerving.

“I gotta make a call.” I turn on my heel and walk away, trying to keep my steps slow and relaxed. But all I want to do is sprint back to the house. That’s how badly Oliver’s presence is turning my head around. I hate this.

Once inside, I veer to the powder room. The make-a-call excuse is terrible, but I need a moment to recover. Inside the small room, I stare at my reflection in the mirror and count to ten in my head. I tell my heart to calm the fuck down and to stop galloping at full speed. I feel like a teenager suffering from her first crush and that’s not an emotional state I want to revisit.

I splash cold water on my flushed face and redo my loose braid. After taking a couple of deep breaths and squaring my shoulders, I can almost pretend I’m ready to go back out. I refuse to let Oliver’s presence keep me from spending quality time with my best friend.

I place one foot out of the door when his voice startles me. “How was that call?”

I jump on the spot, placing a hand over my chest. “Jesus. Did you follow me?”

Oliver is leaning nonchalantly against the wall with his arms crossed. I notice for the first time what he’s wearing, a black T-shirt that highlights his muscled chest and arms. He is also blonder than I remember. But it’s his devious mouth that makes me lose the ability to form coherent thoughts. God, I want to kiss him again.

He pushes himself off of the wall and moves closer. I hold my ground, feigning a pissed off stance. He can’t know how much I crave his nearness.

“What if I did?” he whispers in my ear, making my skin break out in goose bumps.

“I’d say I don’t appreciate stalkers.”

Oliver takes a step back and stares at me. I wish I knew what he is thinking.

“You’ve changed your hair. I kind of liked the mermaid colors.”

I touch my white blonde locks before narrowing my eyes at Oliver. “Did you just follow me to comment on my hair?”

“I want to clear the air around us. I know that we started on the wrong foot—”

“You don’t say,” I cut him off and Oliver flattens his lips.

“But we’ve ended on a very interesting note,” he finishes his sentence with a smirk.

I cross my arms and keep on glaring at the infuriating man. “Don’t get any fancy ideas. That kiss meant nothing and there won’t be a repeat.”

He steps into my personal space again. “Are you sure? I thought that was a wicked kiss. It’s definitely worth an encore.”

I push him away. “It’s been months. Get over yourself. Don’t you have a line of ravenous groupies dying for your attention?”

“Ravenous groupies?” He chuckles. “The images you paint in my head, Saylor. Then you blame me for getting fancy ideas.”

“Listen, Oliver. I don’t know how long you’re in town for, but I would like for us to try to act amicable whenever we’re forced together thanks to our friends’ wedding. So you’d better quit with the sexual innuendo.”

Oliver sighs loudly like what I just asked him is a huge, inconvenient favor. “You’re killing me here, Saylor. Do you know how hard it will be for me to look at you and not want you?”

I suck in a breath as my heart lurches in my chest. It takes me a moment to find my ground again and answer him.

“Try your best,” I say, my voice thin and without substance.

Oliver reaches out and takes a strand of my hair, letting it slide through his fingers. I remain frozen on the spot.

“Maddening, but I will.” He drops my hair and takes a couple of steps back. “And since I’m being completely honest here, I’m seriously considering making California home.”

Oliver goes back to the party outside, leaving me alone to digest the news. Why does it bother me so much that he wants to move to the same state as me? It’s not like we’ll ever see each other besides when we’re doing wedding stuff. What annoys me the most is how my heart hasn’t gotten the memo yet that Oliver is a bad idea. It celebrates furiously in my chest, like it has just discovered how to beat.
