SynopsisThere’s pretty much only one rule when you’re a guy.

Don’t be a douche.

Turns out, the fastest way to break that rule is to fall for your best friend’s sister.

Ava’s brilliant, sharp-tongued, gorgeous, and five years younger than me.

She’s the sexual equivalent of running with scissors. In a word, she’s dangerous. And completely off-limits.

Falling for her could ruin everything.

Yet I can’t seem to stop, even when her company is threatened by a lawsuit, and my promotion hinges on representing the opposing client—and winning.

I can’t see a way out of this mess that doesn’t end in a broken friendship, a broken heart, or a ruined career.

I may have broken the bro code when I fell for Ava. But do I have the balls to handle what comes next?

Barrett wants what he can't have: his best friend's sister. Sure, the entire family have accepted him as one of their own, but he wants more with Ava. And once he learns that the woman of his dreams actually returns his lustful feelings, he can't help but act on them, despite knowing this could end he friendship with her brother. Staying away from Ava just isn't possible once he's had a taste of her. And another. And another.

Ava has had a crush on her brother's friend for years, since she was a teenager. Unfortunately, Barrett was an unattainable older guy back then and he still is now. He lives hours away and he's so focused on getting a promotion that Ava is sure he would never give up his new life to be part of hers. Yet, the moment his lips touch hers, she loses all ability to think rationally. It's bound to lead to heartbreak, but she can't ignore her feelings for him.

Ah, forbidden love tropes. I just love them. This one is the falling-for-his-best-friend's-sister theme and I thought it was done exceptionally well. There is a high level of tension as the couple try to deny their attraction, a good dose of anxiety as we know they are going to get caught or have to admit to this eventually, and a lot of suspense while we wonder if they will or won't decide to give this thing a go.

Our characters were nicely done. Ava was determined to save her father's factory and I felt terrible for her at times. She was hit pretty bad in a series of unfortunate events, yet her attitude impressed me. Barrett was a little too heavy in the focus on his career at times. I think I just tend to prefer a family man to a workaholic. However, this pair had good chemistry and incredibly hot love scenes. It was easy to root for them to succeed.

I was surprised to see such a strong secondary conflict here. The pair's forbidden relationship isn't the only problem that they face. Ava's factory going under plays a larger role in the progress (or lack thereof) of the couple's relationship. I think the only thing that didn't sit well with me was how Barrett acted. I won't give away what happened, but his role in the situation didn't make sense to me, considering how much he adored Ava and her family. I had a hard time believing he would do what he did, based on the way his character had been portrayed up to that point.

In closing...
A fun and sexy weekend read. 4.5 suns!
