Synopsis: Starved for blood, vampire, Nicholai Peterhof is greatly relieved when two tourists decide to grace his restaurant, but one sip from the pretty brunette and his world is forever turned upside down. Juliette Staint-John is everything he could have asked for in a heartmate; pretty, smart, built with curves in all the right places…and totally unavailable.
Juliette doesn’t want anything to do with the handsome, young-looking Nicholai. As if their differences aren’t enough, the acute grief over the loss of loved ones keeps her heart guarded. He may be her fantasy, but that’s all he can ever be.
To get past Juliette’s defenses and in order to keep her safe, Nicholai must prove himself worthy of her love and trust. Unbeknownst to the couple, her personal demons are not the only ones threatening their relationship. Hiding virtually unseen by the vampires, Demon Royalty plots to destroy not only the couple but the entire vampire breed. Luckily, Nicholai will do anything for Juliette—even if it means sacrificing himself.
Nicholai closed the scant distance between them and took her creamy lips in a kiss. As he deepened the caress, his hand slid slowly along her arm then rested on the nape of her neck. His tongue pushed between her moist lips to taste her thoroughly. Her lilac scent filled the car, flooded his lungs.
The passion between them rose. Julie’s heartrate increased in time with his own. Their breaths mingled, becoming one. He feathered light, maddening kisses along her jaw then grasped the lobe of her ear between his teeth.
A soft moan escaped from Juliette’s lips when Nicholai tugged the lobe. His warm breath blew sensuously in her ear. A shiver shook down her spine. Nicholai’s lips moved over her delicate neck, rested over the spot where her pulse beat the strongest.
His tongue darted out to caress the throbbing vein. He lapped at the temptation. It called to him, beat at him. Demanded he take what his body needed. What he craved.

**Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for honest review.**
A woman's vacation leads to the discovery of her heartmate.
Juliette has taken a holiday trip with her best friend and the two women are hitting every tourist spot that they can. A stop into a restaurant for a bite to eat leads them directly into the path of a man with secrets that neither of the women could have ever predicted.
Nicholai is a vampire in need of a feeding. When strangers come into his restaurant, he sees an opportunity and plans to get his fix of fresh blood and then send them on their way, none the wiser. However, one of the women turns out to be his heartmate, the one person in the entire world that he has been waiting for. His other half.
After this new discovery, Nicholai sets off to win Julie over with romantic gestures and thoughtful dates. At the same time, he uses his vampire abilities to learn more about the woman of his dreams. Their whirlwind romance leads Julie to thinking that her perfect new beau is too good to be true.
While our couple try to sort out their uncertain future, demons are plotting their revenge against vampires. Unfortunately, they've set their sights on Julie and it will take all of Nicholai's attention to keep his unsuspecting mate safe.
This book was a pretty good read. It's the third of the series and the paranormal world is a bit complex with supernatural councils and royalty. But I think there was enough backstory that I was able to understand where we were in the story without having read the first two books.
I liked our main characters but I did feel a bit of a disconnect between our couple in the beginning. I would have liked to see Julie become more suspicious of Nicholai's strange behavior and intentions instead of simply swooning over him. It would have been more believable if she had stopped to wonder why abnormal things were happening. Being able to hear someone's thoughts? Yeah, that's not normal.
On the other hand, the love scenes were plenty spicy and the tension did grow steadily before the fireworks ensued. By the time I reached the last quarter of the book, I was definitely rooting for our couple.

In closing...
The ending does set things up for the next book. I wouldn't call it a cliffhanger, really, but there are plots unfinished and questions left to be answered. For this installment, four suns!
