What a fun paranormal romance!

Tabitha isn't your normal human woman. She's got a few secrets up her sleeve, including her job hunting the same evil demons that attacked her as a child and put her sister in a coma. Every night, she roams the streets and sends wicked daemons to their deaths. She's always ready for a fight and more than capable of taking care of herself.

Her new assignment, however, isn't going to be so easy. Not only will she be going up against a new and mysterious group of daemons but she'll have to do it alongside the one person in the world she'd rather stay away from. The sparks between them are usually more hazardous than sexual, though Tabitha can't really deny her attraction to the arrogant pain in the rear.

Kiernan has waited for a chance to get closer to Tabitha since he first laid eyes on her. And her frigid attitude toward him has done nothing to cool the flame he feels for her. Unfortunately, this mission is much too dangerous for the pair to become to distracted by each other. Trouble lurks around every corner and our couple must learn to trust each other if they ever stand a chance of surviving.

This book was great. I've actually read a few other books by this author but they were all contemporary romances. I didn't even realize she wrote paranormal until I saw this book on NetGalley but I knew I had to give it a shot. I sure am glad that I did.

To start with, our main characters were fantastic. Tabitha was strong and stubborn, sometimes to the point where I wanted to strangle her, but she had good reason for wanting to rid the world of the evil creatures who terrorized it. Her past is slowly revealed throughout the course of the story and each twist caught me by surprise. It wasn't predictable in any way.

Kiernan was another nice surprise. His character was humorous and a little cocky at times. But it was all in good fun, even when he was tormenting his Tabby Cat. The way his healing powers worked was a nicely sensual angle added to the romance. The chemistry between the pair was steamy and the love scenes sizzled.

As for the plot, there is a bigger picture here than what we get to see in the couple of weeks that the book covers. The supernatural battle between the different daemons and the council's part in everything is explained. While it felt like a complex story, it was easy to understand. I foresee this paranormal world offering a lot of good stories in the future.

In closing...
I have got to find out what happens with Racine and a certain bubbly woman who has her sights set on him. I hope there are more books to come. Five Kakodaemon-slaying suns!
