The scandal must be publicized and Ambrose fears that other men will be much more cruel to the lady in question. He is determined to fulfill the bet, but with a gentler approach.
Alex is the lady whose innocence is in danger, but she has no idea. Living in the country, she is unaware of the wager against her or why she is being targeted. But when Ambrose shows up, she takes an immediate dislike to his seductive and rakish ways. Yet, her body doesn't seem to agree with her mind.
A hot and cold love affair begins between our couple. And just when they might be on the road to a happy union, secrets rear their ugly heads and leave both Ambrose and Alex with broken hearts. In the end, a ruined woman and a rakehell have to decide if their strange meeting was fate, after all.
This was a really good book. I have become a big fan of historical romances but still tend to roll my eyes at how backwards people in history were toward sexual desire. In this story, our heroine was actually honest with herself over her feelings for Ambrose. It was a breath of fresh air, I must say.
And the passion and tension that grew between our couple was scorching hot. I loved the banter between them that turned to affection as the story progressed. The characters were fun to follow and I really enjoyed reading this book!

The sneak peek of the first book of this series has me foaming at the mouth to get my hands on it! It's scandalous and I can't wait to read it. For this story, 4.5 suns!
